Yamile Saied Méndez

Yamile Saied Méndez is a celebrated Argentine-American author, well-known for her work in children's books and young adult novels. Born in Rosario, Argentina, Méndez has a deep love for football and is passionate about her writing. She is a recipient of the prestigious Walter Dean Meyers Grant and has graduated from both the Voices of Our Nation and the Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA Writing for Children program.

Méndez is not only a dedicated writer but also a loving mother to five human children and two dogs. She currently resides in Utah with her Puerto Rican husband, their children, a majestic kitty, and two adorable dogs. Méndez's love for football, summer, meteor showers, pizza, and astrology are just a few of the many things that bring joy to her life.

As an inaugural Walter Dean Meyers Grant recipient, Méndez has demonstrated her commitment to the craft of writing. Her background in the Voices of Our Nation and the Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA Writing for Children program has further honed her skills and provided her with a solid foundation in the industry.
