Yasmin Ramirez

Yasmín Ramírez is an American author and educator whose writing spans fiction, creative nonfiction, and Chicanx literature. Her memoir, "¡Ándale, Prieta!," published by Lee & Low Books, explores personal and cultural identity through a poignant narrative. Ramírez's shorter works have appeared in literary journals such as "Cream City Review" and "Huizache," showcasing her versatility across genres.

A 2021 Martha's Institute of Creative Writing Author Fellow and 2020 recipient of the Woody and Gayle Hunt-Aspen Institute Fellowship Award, Ramírez blends academic rigor with literary artistry. As an Assistant Professor of English, Creative Writing, and Chicanx Literature at El Paso Community College, she actively engages with the Borderplex arts community. Her dedication to fostering literary culture extends to her advisory role with BorderSenses, a nonprofit promoting regional voices.
