Ye Chun

Ye Chun is a bilingual Chinese American writer and literary translator whose works span fiction, poetry, and translation. She is the author of the novel "Straw Dogs of the Universe," the story collection "Hao," longlisted for the 2022 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, and two poetry collections, "Travel Over Water" and "Lantern Puzzle." She has also written a novel in Chinese titled "Peach Tree in the Sea" ("海上的桃树"). Her literary translations include acclaimed works such as "Ripened Wheat: Selected Poems of Hai Zi," shortlisted for the 2016 Lucien Stryk Asian Translation Award, and "Long River: Poems by Yang Jian."

Born in Luoyang, China, Ye Chun moved to the U.S. in 1999 and earned an MFA in Poetry from the University of Virginia and a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Missouri. Her writing often explores themes of migration, cultural displacement, and bilingual identity. As a translator, she has bridged literary traditions, rendering works by poets like Li-Young Lee and Galway Kinnell into Chinese.

A recipient of an NEA Fellowship, a Sustainable Arts Foundation Award, and three Pushcart Prizes, Ye Chun is an associate professor at Providence College. Her contributions to literature and translation have established her as a significant voice in contemporary bilingual and cross-cultural writing.
