Yves Fey is an award-winning author known for her atmospheric historical mysteries and darkly intense historical romances. Her debut novel, "Floats the Dark Shadow," launched The Paris Trilogy, a series set in Belle Époque Paris featuring an American artist and a French detective entangled in crimes involving poets, courtesans, and serial killers. The second installment, "Bitter Draughts," explores murders during the anti-Semitic Dreyfus Affair riots, while the concluding volume, "A Harmony of Hells," is slated for 2024 release. These works earned critical acclaim, including a Silver Medal from the Independent Publishers Book Awards and finalist placements in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
Fey's writing blends meticulous historical detail with psychological depth, reflecting her academic background—an MFA in Creative Writing and a BA in Pictorial Arts from UCLA. Before adopting her current pen name, she published four gothic-tinged historical romances under the names Gayle Feyrer and Taylor Chase: "The Prince of Cups," "The Thief's Mistress," "Heart of Deception," and "Heart of Night." Her fantasy short story "House of the Twin Jewels" appeared in the anthology "Erotic Interludes." A multifaceted artist, Fey has worked as an illustrator, ceramicist, and fiction teacher while maintaining passions for perfumery, cinema, and chocolate craftsmanship.
Residing in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and cats, Fey continues to revisit her earlier works for republication while completing her Paris Trilogy. Her lifelong engagement with visual and literary arts informs her richly textured narratives, which often explore themes of obsession, creativity, and societal upheaval.
