C.J. Box is a renowned American author, best known for his Joe Pickett series. Born and raised in Wyoming, Box currently resides near Cheyenne with his wife Laurie and their three daughters, Becky, Roxanne, and Laurie. He is a passionate outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and other outdoor activities, which heavily influence his Joe Pickett series.
Box has received numerous awards for his work, including the Edgar Alan Poe Award for Best Novel (Blue Heaven, 2009), the Anthony Award, Prix Calibre 38 (France), the Macavity Award, the Gumshoe Award, and two Barry Awards. In 2016, he received the Western Heritage Award for Literature by the National Cowboy Museum and the Spur Award for Best Contemporary Novel by the Western Writers of America in 2017. His novels have been translated into 27 languages, and several have been optioned for film and television.
Box has had a diverse career, having worked as a ranch hand, surveyor, fishing guide, a small-town newspaper reporter and editor, and co-owning an international tourism marketing firm with his wife. He is an active member of his community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo and the Wyoming Tourism Board.
