Camilla Lackberg

Camilla Läckberg is a highly acclaimed Swedish author, best known for her crime fiction novels. She was born on August 30, 1974, in Sweden, where her interest in the crime genre was sparked by her father's collection of crime novels. Läckberg's books are recognized for their in-depth characterization, often revealing the darkest aspects of her characters. She leaves much of the scene-setting to the reader's imagination, allowing for a more personalized reading experience. This approach has earned her the title of the "Swedish Agatha Christie."

Before finding success as a crime writer, Läckberg worked in marketing and product management for several years. However, a creative writing course inspired her to pursue a career in writing. Her first two novels, "Isprinsessan" (The Ice Princess) and "Predikanten" (The Preacher), received significant praise from Swedish critics and quickly gained a large readership. Läckberg's breakthrough came when "Stenhuggaren" (The Stonecutter) was nominated for The Crime Novel of the Year award in 2005. Her popularity further increased when "Olycksfågeln" (The Stranger) and "Tyskungen" (The Hidden Child) were selected as lead titles in Bonnier’s Book Club.

Läckberg's books have been adapted into a successful TV series by SVT (Swedish Television), contributing to her growing fame. In 2017, she released her tenth book in the Fjällbacka-series, "Häxan," which received widespread acclaim and sold over 300,000 copies in Sweden, earning her a diamond book award. In 2019, Läckberg ventured into a new genre with the release of "The Golden Cage," the first of a two-book psychological suspense duology. This novel became the most sold book in Sweden that year. Läckberg continues to reside in Stockholm with her family, and her work remains popular both domestically and internationally.
