Carlene Thompson is a successful American author, best known for her suspense novels. Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on January 1, 1952, Thompson developed a love for writing at a young age. After watching 101 Dalmatians at the age of nine, she wrote her first novel, "The Mystery of the Golden Retriever."
Thompson's passion for writing and her love for animals go hand in hand. She makes sure to include at least one of her pets in each book she writes, as a way to immortalize them. Her caring nature is not only reflected in her treatment of her pets, but also in the romantic elements that are often present in her novels.
Thompson's first published novel, "Black for Remembrance," was published in 1990 by Little, Brown and was well received. Her novels are suspenseful, often with romantic elements and many of them take place in her home state of West Virginia. She draws inspiration for the animals in her books from the ones she knows in real life, making her stories even more relatable and endearing to her readers.
