Carmen Reid is a journalist, writer, and mother who was born and raised in a rural area of Scotland. Growing up in the countryside, she developed a lifelong phobia of cows and a strong interest in cities, department stores, books, cinema, and newspapers. These interests would later influence her writing, which often features busy city settings and strong female protagonists.
Reid earned a degree in English Literature from University College London, but she spent most of her twenties working as a local, regional, and national newspaper reporter. She always knew she was meant to be an author, not a journalist, and so she left her day job to have a baby and focus on writing her first novel. After several years of hard work and dedication, her first novel was published.
In addition to her novels for adults, Reid has also written a number of books for teenagers. She is currently working on her eighth novel for grown-ups and her third novel for teenagers. When she's not writing, Reid enjoys cooking, cleaning, and taking care of her family, which includes her husband, Thomas, and two children, Sam and Claudie, as well as Jimmy the dog and several fish. She currently resides in Glasgow, Scotland.
Reid's writing is known for its strong female characters and its ability to make readers laugh, cry, and feel all warm and fuzzy inside. She has a particular talent for writing about women who have families, jobs, and busy lives, and she often includes elements of adventure, comedy, and fun in her stories. Her novels are the perfect escape for readers who want to lose themselves in a good book and enjoy some laughs and tears along the way.
