Carolyn Brown is a successful and prolific American author, best known for her contemporary, historical, and western romance novels, as well as her women's fiction. She has written over 100 novels and several novellas, and is a New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Publisher’s Weekly and #1 Amazon and #1 Washington Post bestselling author. Brown has been published for more than 20 years, and her books have been translated into 21 foreign languages.
Brown grew up in Texas and was raised in Southern Oklahoma. From a young age, she discovered a love for reading, which eventually turned into a passion for writing. She enjoys writing about emotions and relationships, and believes that human nature has remained unchanged over the centuries, despite changing settings, plots, names, and times.
Brown became serious about writing when her third child was born, and she found herself with a lot of late-night hours to fill. She began writing in a spiral back notebook with a sharpened pencil, and her first story, while never sold, brought in enough rejection slips to endanger the Redwood Forest. Despite the initial setbacks, Brown persisted and eventually saw success with her writing.
Brown is married to her husband, Charles, and has three children, fifteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She enjoys cooking, spending time with her family, and listening to the ocean waves, which she finds inspiring for her writing. She is represented by a wonderful agent, Erin Niumata, and is grateful for the support of her editors who continue to believe in her. Brown's latest series, The Honky Tonk Series, was recently published by Sourcebooks.
