Carolyn Gimpel Hart is an accomplished American author, renowned for her cozy mystery novels. She has written numerous books under her real name and also as Carolyn Hart. Some of her most famous series include Death on Demand and Henrie O. Hart began her writing career in 1964 when she won a writing contest for a mystery novel aimed at teenage girls. She then went on to write young adult mysteries until 1972. However, for the next 15 years, publishers were not interested in female-authored American mysteries, so she wrote standalone suspense titles instead. It was not until authors like Marcia Muller, Sara Paretsky, and Sue Grafton broke the barrier that Hart returned to writing mystery novels.\n \n Throughout her career, Hart has won numerous awards for her work, including the Agatha Award, Anthony Award, and Macavity Award.
