Carrie Vaughn

Carrie Vaughn is an accomplished American author, best known for her urban fantasy and paranormal romance novels. She is the creator of the popular Kitty Norville series. Vaughn began her writing career by producing science fiction and fantasy short stories. Her love for writing led her to pursue higher education, and she earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in English literature. Currently, she resides in Boulder, Colorado.

Vaughn was born on January 28, 1973, in Sacramento, California, and grew up in a military family. Her father served as part of the B-52 flight crew during the Vietnam War. As a result of her father's military career, Vaughn moved around frequently during her childhood, living in various states, including California, North Dakota, Colorado, Florida, and Maryland.

Carrie Vaughn has written more than twenty novels and over a hundred short stories. She is renowned for her New York Times bestselling series about a werewolf named Kitty who hosts a talk radio advice show for the supernaturally disadvantaged. In 2018, Vaughn won the Philip K. Dick Award for "Bannerless," a post-apocalyptic murder mystery novel. She has had two of her short stories nominated for the Hugo Award. Besides, Vaughn has contributed to the Wild Cards series of shared world superhero books, edited by George R. R. Martin, and is a graduate of the Odyssey Fantasy Writing Workshop. Despite her nomadic childhood, Vaughn has managed to establish roots in Boulder, Colorado, where she enjoys collecting hobbies.
