Casey Barrett

Casey Barrett is a Canadian author, known for his crime fiction series, the Duck Darley series. The series features Lawrence Darley, Jr., a fallen rich kid and convicted felon, who becomes an unlicensed private investigator in present-day Manhattan. Darley is the son of a Madoff-esque fraudster father, and his character is marked by conflict and a less than sober outlook on life.

Prior to his writing career, Barrett was a celebrated competitive swimmer, and he has since co-founded and co-CEO of Imagine Swimming, New York City's largest learn-to-swim school. His background in swimming has also led him to win three Emmy awards and one Peabody award for his work on NBC's broadcasts of the Olympic Games. Barrett's writing has been recognized with a Shamus nomination, and he has also authored a popular swimming blog, Cap & Goggles, and contributed to publications such as the Village Voice, GQ, Rolling Stone, and Swimming World magazine.

The Duck Darley series includes three books, with the first, Under Water, released by Kensington Books on November 28th, 2017. The second book, Against Nature, was released eight months later on July 31st, 2018, and the third book, The Tower of Songs, is set for a mid-2019 release. Barrett's writing combines his experience in the competitive swimming world with his talent for storytelling, resulting in a unique and engaging crime fiction series.
