Cathy Park Hong is a highly accomplished Korean-American author, professor, and poet. She has gained a significant following and critical acclaim for her three published volumes of poetry, which often feature serialized narrative and a mix of languages. Hong was born in Los Angeles, California, to Korean parents and went on to study at Oberlin College before obtaining her MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop.
Throughout her career, Hong has received numerous prestigious awards and fellowships, including the MacDowell Colony Fellowship, Fulbright Fellowship, NY Foundation of Arts Fellowship, 2018 Windham Campbell Prize, Guggenheim Fellowship, and National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. In addition to her writing pursuits, Hong is currently employed at Rutgers University, where she teaches creative writing.
In Spring 2020, Hong published her book of creative nonfiction, "Minor Feelings," with One World/Random House (US) and Profile Books (UK). She has also authored several poetry collections, including "Engine Empire," published in 2012 by W.W. Norton, "Dance Dance Revolution," which won the Barnard Women Poets Prize, and "Translating Mo'um." Hong's work has been featured in various prominent literary journals, such as "Poetry," "A Public Space," "Paris Review," "McSweeney's," "Baffler," "Yale Review," and "The Nation." She also serves as the poetry editor for the New Republic.
