Cathy Woodman is an English writer who hails from Winchester, the county town of Hampshire, England. She began her professional journey as a vet officer, although she had a long-standing love for literature, often finding herself engrossed in various novels during her late-night shifts. However, it was only after the birth of her children that she decided to leave her full-time job to become a devoted stay-at-home mother.
Once her children were born, Woodman found herself with more time to pursue her passion for writing. She joined a local creative writing group and started entering writing competitions. Her hard work and dedication paid off in 2002 when she was named joint winner of the Harry Bowling First Novel Award. This victory led her to meet Laura Longrigg of MBA Literary Agents, who was impressed enough to offer Woodman representation. In April 2003, Woodman received the exciting news that Headline had offered her a two-book deal. Her debut novel, Under The Bonnet, was published in November 2004, and she has since published several more books, including Our House, Family Matters, and The Boy Next Door.
Woodman's latest project is a series of novels about The Otter House Vets, a fictional practice set in a quiet Devonshire market town. The first book in the series, Trust Me, I’m a Vet, was published in paperback by Arrow Books in April 2010, and the second book followed closely in September of the same year. Woodman's love for animals is evident in her writing, and her menagerie has grown over the years to include two cats, three Border Terriers, two ponies, and two pet rats. Her family has embraced this growth, although her husband may have greeted the news of their latest additions with a resigned sigh.
