Cece Bell

Cece Bell is a renowned author and illustrator, who was born in Richmond, Virginia, in the year 1950. She has made a significant contribution to children's literature with her successful "Sock Monkey" series from Candlewick and her collaboration with her husband, Tom Angleberger, on "Crankee Doodle." Bell's creativity and talent for illustration were instrumental in the development of "Crankee Doodle," where she came up with the basic page layout and idea in collaboration with her husband, who then refined the writing.

Bell is not only an illustrator but also an accomplished author. She has written and illustrated numerous books for children and has received recognition for her work. One of her most notable achievements is receiving a Geisel Honor for one of her books. Bell's personal experiences, including her hearing loss and childhood, have inspired her writing. She has written a graphic novel, "El Deafo," which is a slightly fictionalized account of her experiences. Bell invites readers to explore more of her work on her website, where they can find more "weird stuff" that showcases her creativity and talent.

Bell and her husband, Tom Angleberger, live in an old church in the hills of Virginia. She works in a new-ish barn right next door, where she continues to create and illustrate children's books. Bell's work is a testament to her passion for storytelling and her ability to bring characters to life through her illustrations. Her contributions to children's literature have made a significant impact on young readers and have earned her recognition and acclaim in the industry.
