Charles Frazier is an accomplished author of American historical fiction, born on November 4, 1950, in Asheville, North Carolina. Raised in the mountains of North Carolina, Frazier spent his formative years in Franklin and Andrews, which would later provide the rich backdrop for many of his acclaimed novels. He pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina, graduating in 1973. Frazier then went on to earn his MA from Appalachian State University during the mid-1970s, ultimately completing his PhD in English from the University of South Carolina in 1986.
