Chelsea Bieker

Chelsea Bieker is a literary fiction author, best known for her debut novel "Godshot" which was published in 2020. Raised in Hawaii and California, she is currently residing in Portland, Oregon with her husband and two children. Bieker's writing has been featured in various publications such as "Cosmonauts Avenue," "Granta," "No Tokens," "McSweeney's Quarterly Concern," "The Normal School," "Catapult," "The Cincinnati Review," "Electric Literature," and "Joyland."

Bieker's writing career took off when she won the Rona Jaffe Writer's Foundation Award in 2018. This accolade came with a two-book deal with Catapult books, marking a significant milestone in her professional writing journey. In addition to the Jaffe Award, Bieker has also been a nominee for the prestigious Pushcart Prize and has received a fellowship to the MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire.

Apart from her writing, Bieker is also a parent and professor at Pennsylvania's Harrisburg Area Community College where she teaches composition. She is also a tutor at the Gotham and Catapult Writers Workshop. Bieker's writing has been recognized in various lists and awards, including being longlisted for The Center For Fiction’s First Novel Prize and named a Barnes and Noble Pick of the Month for "Godshot." Her story collection, "Heartbroke" won the California Book Award and was a New York Times “Best California Book of 2022” and an NPR Best Book of the Year. Her newest novel, "Madwoman," is set to be published in September 2024 by Little, Brown and Oneworld in the UK.
