Chelsea Cain is an accomplished American author, well-known for her thriller novels and humorous books. She was raised on a hippie commune and went on to write her master's thesis based on her memoirs. This thesis was eventually published as Dharma Girl.
Cain is best known for her series of books featuring Archie Sheridan and Gretchen Lowell, as well as the Kick Lannigan series. Her book Heartsick, the first in the Archie Sheridan/Gretchen Lowell series, was named one of the best 100 thrillers ever written by NPR. Additionally, Heartsick and Sweetheart were both included in Stephen King's list of the top ten books of the year. Cain's thrillers, which are set in Portland, Oregon, have been featured on HBO's True Blood and ABC's Castle.
The New York Times has described Cain's Portland-based thrillers as "steamy and perverse," and they have been translated into over 25 languages. Heartsick and Sweetheart have been recommended on The Today Show and have been included in NPR's list of the top 100 thrillers ever written. According to Booklist, "Popular entertainment just doesn't get much better than this." Cain currently resides in Portland, Oregon with her husband and daughter.
