Cherise Wolas

Cherise Wolas is an accomplished American author, film producer, lawyer, and editor. She was born in Los Angeles and attended Loyola Law School, where she received a JD, and the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where she earned a BFA in film. As a film producer, Wolas is known for producing "Darkon," which won the SXSW Audience Award. She also worked as a script development executive and television and feature film editor for many years. Later, she founded her own film company, where she produced and developed movies, scripts, novels, and stories. In addition to her work in film, Wolas practiced law in New York and Los Angeles after graduating from Loyola.

Wolas's debut as a novelist came with the publication of "The Resurrection of Joan Ashby" in 2017, a critically acclaimed and award-winning novel. The book has won several awards, including Kirkus Reviews' Best Debut Novel and Best Novel, an Editor's Choice from the New York Times Book Review, and the Robert W. Bingham/Pen Debut Fiction Prize. "The Resurrection of Joan Ashby" has been nominated for the 2019 International Dublin Literary Award and the 2018 PEN/Robert W. Bingham Debut Fiction Prize. It has been translated into several languages, including French, Polish, Hebrew, Turkish, and Chinese.

Wolas's second novel, "The Family Tabor," has also been well-received, earning recognition as an ABA Indie Next Great Read Pick in three categories: Hardcover, Paperback, and for Reading Groups, and a New York Times Book Review Paperback Row selection. Legendary Entertainment Television has optioned "The Family Tabor" for a multi-season premium cable television show. It has been published in the US and UK, and is forthcoming in France in October 2021, and in other foreign countries.
