Cheryl A. Head

Ceryl A. Head is a highly accomplished author, known for her Anthony Award-nominated Charlie Mack Motown Mystery series. Head is a two-time Lambda Literary Award Finalist, Goldie Winner, and Next Generation Indie Award Finalist. She is an introverted individual who enjoys solving puzzles and righting fictional wrongs through her writing. Head currently resides in Washington, D.C., with her partner and two dogs.

In addition to her mystery series, Head has also written in other genres. Her first book, "Long Way Home: A World War II Novel," is a historical fiction novel that draws on her experiences and observations about ambition, race, class, and "dreams deferred." The novel was a double finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards for Historical Fiction and African American Literature.

Head is also the author of the Charlie Mack Motown Mystery series, published by Bywater Books. The series includes six books: "Bury Me When I'm Dead," "Wake Me When It's Over," "Catch Me When I'm Falling," "Judge Me When I'm Wrong," "Find Me When I'm Lost," and "Warn Me When It's Time." Her upcoming crime fiction novel is based on her family story and looks at a 90-year-old homicide, the police shooting of a black man in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1929. Head's works have received critical acclaim, with the New York Times calling her upcoming novel "chilling and prescient."
