Cheryl Honigford is a successful author, born and raised in Ohio, who has made a name for herself in the historical fiction, mystery, and romance genres. She is well-known for her new mystery series, the Viv and Charlie Mysteries. Honigford's love for storytelling started at a young age, and she was inspired by her fascination with mysteries, old-style radios, and Chicago. Honigford's writing career began after she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, with an English minor, from the University of Ohio State. Her debut novel, The Darkness Knows, was written shortly after her graduation. Initially, she wrote the book as a Nanowrimo project, pouring her passion for mysteries into the story. However, Honigford was hesitant to publish the book due to her fear of failure. Despite her initial apprehension, the book was a tremendous success, becoming a quarter-finalist in Amazon's Breakthrough Novel Competition and the overall winner of the prestigious Daphne du Maurier Prize for Excellence in Suspense & Mystery Books.
