Chetan Bhagat is a highly acclaimed author, columnist, motivational speaker, and television personality from India. He is well-known for writing Indian-English novels that mainly explore the lives of the young urban middle-class in India. Bhagat has written a total of nine novels, including bestsellers like Five Point Someone, One Night at the Call Center, The 3 Mistakes of My Life, 2 States, Revolution 2020, Half Girlfriend, and One Indian Girl. His books have been extremely popular, with more than 7 million copies sold worldwide. In 2008, The New York Times labeled him as the biggest selling novelist of the English language in India's history.\n \nBhagat's work extends beyond just writing novels. He is a regular columnist for leading daily newspapers like Dainik Bhaskar and The Times of India, where he writes about career development, current affairs, and youth. As a motivational speaker, he has given talks in various leading MNCs and institutions. Bhagat has also ventured into screenwriting, with his work including movies like 2 States, Kai Po Che!, Half Girlfriend, and Kick. His screenwriting for Kai Po Che! won him the Best Screenplay Award at the 2014 Filmfare Awards. Apart from his work in print and film, Bhagat is also a television personality, having appeared as a judge on several reality shows.
Bhagat is a graduate of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad. Despite his success in the literary world, he is seen more as a youth icon than just an author, owing to his relatable and relevant storytelling. Bhagat quit his international investment banking career in 2009 to devote his entire time to writing and making a difference in the country. He currently resides in Mumbai with his wife, Anusha, and their twin boys, Shyam and Ishaan.
