Chris A. Bennett grew up in the picturesque surroundings of Klamath Lake in southeastern Oregon. As a young boy, he reveled in the area's natural beauty, which included forests, hills, and abundant wildlife. His love for adventure and action transformed into a lifelong passion for books, particularly after his mother introduced him to "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" during a family road trip. The family's dinner table discussions often revolved around history, politics, and current events, further fueling Chris's interest in these subjects.
When Chris attended the University of Oregon, he decided to study history and political science, finding the subjects both natural and easy for him. However, he was advised that making a living in those fields would be challenging, so he opted to pursue a career in computer science instead. Chris has been a professional writer in the software development industry for over 35 years. Despite his success in the field, Chris's thirst for adventure never waned, and he eventually channeled his love of history into his writing, beginning with his first book, "Road to the Breaking."
Chris found that he couldn't stop writing once he started, and the result is "The Road to the Breaking" series. This epic series takes readers on a journey across a young nation rife with debauchery, brutality, corruption, and political intrigue, all set against the backdrop of the impending American Civil War. Chris currently resides near Seattle with his wife, Patricia, and is close to his three adult children, Nick, Rachel, and Josh, who also live in the Puget Sound area.
