Chris Bunch

Chris Bunch was an American author renowned for his contributions to science fiction and fantasy literature. Over his prolific career, he wrote or co-wrote more than 30 novels, including acclaimed series such as the "Sten" series, "Shannon Trilogy," and "Dragonmaster." Many of his works, particularly the "Sten" series, were created in collaboration with fellow author Allan Cole. Bunch also penned standalone novels, an omnibus collection, and several plays, earning recognition for his imaginative storytelling and expansive world-building.

Born in Fresno, California, Bunch drew from diverse life experiences to shape his writing. He served as a patrol leader during the Vietnam War and later worked as a correspondent for "Stars and Stripes" and a writer for "Rolling Stone". His military background often influenced the gritty realism and tactical depth in his fiction. Bunch's partnership with Cole, who became his brother-in-law, produced some of his most celebrated works, blending action, intrigue, and richly developed universes. He passed away in Ilwaco, Washington, after a prolonged struggle with a lung ailment, leaving behind a lasting legacy in speculative fiction.
