Christina Jones is a highly accomplished author from the United Kingdom, known for her award-winning novels in the romance and literature & fiction genres. Born in Oxford in 1948, Jones spent many years writing for various sections before becoming a published novelist in 1997. She has had a varied career, having worked 27 jobs and getting sacked from 19 of them for writing stories instead of working. Jones has been a waitress, secretary, market researcher, bookseller, shop assistant, dancer, fruit picker, factory worker, cleaner, barmaid, nanny, civil servant, and more. She feels fortunate to have become a writer and write full-time, which she considers a dream come true.
Jones's parents had a significant influence on her writing career. Her father was a clown in a circus, while her mother was a teacher. They used to tell Jones stories about how they met and fell in love, which sparked her romantic soul. Her novels reflect this community spirit, with small groups of people from different backgrounds working together through the ups and downs of life. Her heroines are strong and gutsy, reflecting the women she grew up with in her tight-knit community.
Jones's writing career took off in 1997 when she was approached by an agent who suggested she should try writing full-length commercial fiction. Her first full-length novel, Going the Distance, was a success, and she hasn't looked back since. She has won several awards for her writing, including the WH Smith Fresh Talent Winner, Thumping Good Read Award, The Melissa Nathan Comedy Romance Awards, Pure Passion Award, and The Reviewer's Choice Award. Jones has written 21 romantic comedy novels and several e-book-only novellas, short stories, and compilations. Her latest novel, Only One Woman, co-authored with Jane Risdon, was published in November 2017 and is currently available to pre-order on Amazon. Her next novel, Marigold’s Magical Mystery Tour, will be published in September 2018. Jones now lives in rural Oxfordshire with her husband and several rescued cats.
