Christina Sweeney-Baird is a bestselling science fiction author, most notably for her debut novel, "The End of Men." She was born in Glasgow and spent much of her childhood traveling between there and London. As a teenager, she attended the University of Cambridge, where she earned her bachelor's degree in 2015. Over the years, Sweeney-Baird has worked as a freelance journalist and has been published in various media outlets, including "The Huffington Post" and "The Independent." In 2021, Sweeney-Baird published her debut novel, "The End of Men," which quickly became a bestseller and has since been translated into 17 languages. The novel's film rights have been sold to a major Hollywood studio. Set in a world where a deadly virus to which women are immune kills 90% of the male population, "The End of Men" follows several female characters as they navigate a world without men, trying to keep their families safe, and rebuilding and coping with the extraordinary. Sweeney-Baird wrote the novel in 2018 and 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, and has stated that the parallels between her fiction and the real world were unexpected. However, she has been told that her novel has brought hope to some readers during these challenging times. Sweeney-Baird currently resides in London, where she continues to work as a lawyer and write in her spare time.
