Chuck Barrett is an accomplished American author, best known for his Jake Pendleton series and his more recent Gregg Kaplan series. After a successful career in other fields, Barrett turned to writing in his later years and quickly made a name for himself in the international thriller genre. His Jake Pendleton series includes the books The Savannah Project, The Toymaker, Breach of Power, and Disruption, while his Gregg Kaplan series includes BLOWN and Last Chance.
Barrett is a graduate of Auburn University and a retired air traffic controller. In addition to his writing, he holds a Commercial Pilot Certificate, Flight Instructor Certificate, and a Dive Master rating. He and his wife, DJ Steele, who is also an author, currently reside in Northern Colorado.
Barrett's work has been well-received by both critics and audiences. He has won several awards for his writing, including the 2013 Indie Excellence Award in Political Thrillers for Breach of Power, and the 2016 Writers Digest Self-Published Book Awards for BLOWN. The Toymaker was a finalist in the 2013 International Book Awards Thriller/Adventure & Mystery/Suspense categories, and The Savannah Project was a finalist in the 2011 International Book Awards Thriller/Adventure category, among other accolades. Barrett also teaches continuing education courses on writing at Colorado State University, where he shares his expertise with aspiring writers.
