Claire Willett is an accomplished American author, known for her work as a novelist and playwright. She earned her B.A. in Theatre from Whitman College and graduated from the Paul A. Kaplan Theatre Management Program. Willett's plays have been well-received, with her play "Dear Galileo" being a finalist for the Drammy Award for Best Original Script. She has had several other plays produced and is currently working on a new project titled "HOW CAN I KEEP FROM SINGING?". The play explores the intersection of Catholicism and queerness and is commissioned by the University of Portland.
In addition to her work as a playwright, Willett is also an accomplished novelist. Her first novel, "The Rewind Files", was released in 2017 and the second book in the trilogy, "All Things Fall", was released in September of 2022. The third and final installment in the trilogy, "Zero Hour", was released in early 2023. Willett's writing is influenced by a variety of authors, including Margery Allingham, Margaret Atwood, W.H. Auden, Jane Austen, and Terry Brooks.
Before becoming a writer, Willett worked in various fields and is still actively working in some of them. She spent eight years as a Catholic youth minister and currently works as a nonprofit grant writer. In her free time, she enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons, buying too many books, and ranting about politics, feminism, and science fiction. Willett is also an active member of the arts community in her hometown of Portland, Oregon, where she collects Liberace memorabilia, spends too much money at Powell's Books, and freelances as a marketing and development consultant for arts nonprofits.
