Clare Pooley is a highly acclaimed British author, best known for her literary fiction and non-fiction works. She graduated from Newnham College, Cambridge and embarked on a successful career in advertising that spanned two decades. However, Pooley decided to leave the corporate world to focus on raising her children and pursuing her passion for writing.
While at home, Pooley started a blog called "Mummy was a Secret Drinker," which chronicled her struggles with alcoholism and her journey towards sobriety. The blog gained widespread popularity and eventually led to the publication of her memoir, "The Sober Diaries." The book has since helped thousands of people around the world to quit drinking, demonstrating Pooley's ability to connect with readers on a deep and personal level.
In addition to her memoir, Pooley has also authored several novels, including "The Authenticity Project," which was a New York Times bestseller, a BBC Radio 2 Bookclub pick, and the winner of the RNA debut novel award. The book has been translated into 29 languages, showcasing Pooley's global appeal. Her second novel, titled "The People on Platform 5" in the UK and "Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting" in the USA, was released in May/June 2022. Pooley currently resides in Fulham, London with her husband, three children, and two dogs.
