Colin Falconer

Colin Falconer is a renowned author who also writes under the pen names Colin Bowles and Mark D’Abranville. He is known for his expertise in writing historical and contemporary thrillers, as well as children's books. Falconer has had a diverse career, working in various fields such as being a scriptwriter and folk singer for The Two Ronnies, taxi driver, bar man, and journalist.

Born in London, Falconer moved to Australia in his twenties due to his restlessness. Prior to becoming a writer, he spent most of his life as a freelance journalist, writing for television and radio, and for a number of venerable magazines in Australia and around the world. Some of the magazines he has written for include The Australian Women’s Weekly, Gourmet Traveler, Ansett Inflight Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, Qantas Magazine, The Bulletin, Cosmopolitan, Playboy, and The Australian. Despite his busy schedule in journalism, Falconer has always been writing novels, publishing over 40 of them since 1990, which have been translated into over 23 languages.

As Colin Falconer, he writes historical adventure thrillers, including the bestselling "Silk Road" and "Harem." His books are often found in the daily top 50 best selling historical thrillers lists on Amazon USA and UK. His latest release is "Ends of the Earth" (2023). Falconer's passion for stories was sparked at a young age, devouring the Classics Illustrated comics given to him by his Aunty Ivy. By ten, he had read everything from Homer's Odyssey to the entire works of Dumas and H. Rider Haggard as graphic novels. He loves adventure and travel, having taken research trips that have seen him running with bulls in Spain, cage diving with sharks in South Africa, travelling the Silk Road, chasing black witches across Mexico, and climbing the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Falconer is a prolific writer who has published over thirty novels that have been translated into 25 languages. He now lives in Fremantle with his wife and spaniels, one of whom has become a minor celebrity on Facebook.
