Cometan is a British author and the founder of Astronism, a cosmocentric religious philosophy that is part of the ancient Astronic tradition. He was born on July 1, 1998, and his birth name is Brandon Taylor. Cometan adopted the mononym "Cometan" when he was twenty years old, a name that is composed of the suffix -an, which signifies the foundership of something, and the term "comet," which reflects his cosmic identity and theme. This name metaphorically represents Tayloran as a comet, emphasizing his long and unknown trajectory while remaining an ultimate seeker in the cosmos.
Cometan is an autodidact of philosophy and theology, and he is the sole author of the Omnidoxy, which is the founding treatise of Astronism. He began his public literary career in November 2017, publishing the precursory edition of Jesse Millette and The Phantom’s Curse. Before that, he spent four and a half years in conceptual, personal, and intellectual development. Cometan's fascination with mystery detective stories, such as Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, inspired him to create his own fictional detective, Jesse Millette.
According to Cometan, the idea of Jesse Millette came to him in a vision, which led to the creation of his religion. The adventures of Jesse Millette are chronicled in The Original Jesse Millette Series. Cometan's religion, Astronism, holds a theology focused on the centrality of outer space and celestial bodies, which he calls The Cosmos, as humanity’s primary source of spiritual and intellectual improvement.
