Ed Greenwood

Ed Greenwood is a renowned Canadian author, known for his elaborate fantasy novels, game books, and series. He is most famous for creating the Forgotten Realms world, a setting that has been used in various board, roleplaying, computer, and card games, as well as comic books and a bestselling novel line. Greenwood has been writing and expanding the Forgotten Realms world since 1975, when it became the setting for his home Dungeons & Dragons game.

Greenwood has had a prolific career as a writer, with over two hundred articles published in Dragon magazine and Polyhedron newszine. He is also a lifetime charter member of the Role Playing Game Associaton (RPGA) network and has written over thirty books and modules for TSR. In addition to his work on the Forgotten Realms series, Greenwood has invented notable characters such as Elminster. He has been recognized for his contributions to the gaming and fantasy communities, and has been a guest of honor at several conventions around the world.

Ed Greenwood currently resides in an old farmhouse in the countryside of Ontario, Canada. In his free time, he enjoys reading books about exploring caves, fencing with swords, and camping. Greenwood comes from a literary family, with his mother, Barbara Greenwood, being the author of several popular Canadian children's books. He has also been an editor of Dragon Magazine and a columnist for several other fantasy and gaming periodicals. Greenwood is a charter lifetime member of the RPGA and a lifetime active member of SFWA. He has been hailed as "the Canadian author of the great American novel," "an industry legend," and "one of the greats" by various publications and authors.
