Elizabeth Gilbert

Elizabeth Gilbert is an acclaimed American author and journalist, best known for her bestselling memoir, "Eat Pray Love." Born on July 18, 1969, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Gilbert grew up on a family farm in Litchfield, Connecticut, where her love for reading was cultivated. Her parents, Carole and John Gilbert, were a homemaker and a chemical engineer, respectively, and Gilbert has a sister named Catherine Gilbert Murdock, who is also a novelist.

Gilbert's work has received significant recognition and acclaim. Her short story collection, "Pilgrims," was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway award, and her novel "Stern Men" was a New York Times notable book. In 2002, her book "The Last American Man" was a finalist for both the National Book Award and the National Book Critics’ Circle Award. "Eat, Pray, Love" spent an impressive 57 weeks in the number one spot on the New York Times paperback bestseller list and has been published in over thirty languages.
