Elizabeth Letts

Elizabeth Letts is a bestselling and award-winning author known for her work in historical fiction, narrative nonfiction, and literary fiction. After college, she pursued this dream by volunteering for the Peace Corps, teaching English at a Moroccan high school, and later attending the Yale School of Nursing to become a certified nurse-midwife. She has also found success in narrative nonfiction, with her book "The Eighty-Dollar Champion" being a #1 New York Times bestseller and winner of the 2012 Daniel P Lenehan Award for Media Excellence from the United States Equestrian Foundation. Her book "The Perfect Horse" was the winner of the 2017 PEN USA Award for Research Non-fiction and a #1 Wall Street Journal bestseller. Letts's writing is informed by her passions, which include horses, animals, women and children's issues, singing in a choir, and long road trips through the backroads of America.
