Elizabeth May is a successful author of Young Adult fantasy novels, best known for her series The Falconer. Born and raised in California, May later relocated to Scotland where she earned her PhD at the University of St. Andrews. She currently resides in Edinburgh, Scotland with her husband and two cats.
May's love for reading began at a young age, as she spent much of her time in California going through the books in the local library. Her passion for literature led her to start writing her own stories and creating people and places she had never experienced before. May's work has gained international recognition and has been sold in over ten countries. Some of her books have been chosen for an Amazon Book of the Month, a Scholastic Reading Club pick, and a Green Mountain Book Award.
In addition to The Falconer series, May is also the author of the Seven Devils duology (co-written with Laura Lam) and historical romance novels under the pen name Katrina Kendrick. She is a Californian by birth but considers herself Scottish by choice, holding a Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews. May currently lives on an 18th-century farm in rural Scotland with her husband, three cats, and a lively hive of honeybees that reside within the walls of her old farmhouse.
