Elizabeth Sims is a distinguished author and writing authority from the United States, best known for her crime fiction novels. She has penned the Rita Farmer’ series of mystery novels, as well as the Lambda Award-winning Lillian Byrd crime series. Sims has been praised for her work, with Booklist calling her writing "crime fiction as smart as it is compelling," and Crimespree magazine praising her "strong voice and wonderful characters."
Sims' love for storytelling began at a young age, listening to her father's tall tales and reading a wide range of books brought home by her mother. She has since gone on to earn degrees in English from Michigan State University and Wayne State University, where she won the Tompkins Award for graduate fiction. In addition to her work as an author, Sims is also a contributing editor for Writer's Digest magazine and has helped thousands of fledgling authors find their wings through her articles, coaching, and editing.
Sims has a varied work history, having worked as a reporter, photographer, technical writer, bookseller, street busker, ranch hand, corporate executive, certified lifeguard, and symphonic percussionist. She is represented by the Donald Maass Literary Agency and belongs to several literary societies as well as American Mensa. Sims' writing career has seen her published by both major presses and smaller houses, and she has written short works for numerous publications. She is also the author of the lively and practical book, "You've Got a Book in You: A Stress-Free Guide to Writing the Book of Your Dreams" (Writer's Digest Books), which has been specially recognized by NaNoWriMo and hundreds of other websites and bloggers.
