Emily Everett

Emily Everett is an author and editor from western Massachusetts whose fiction has appeared in prominent literary journals such as "The Kenyon Review," "Electric Literature," "Tin House," and "Mississippi Review." A Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellow in Fiction, she explores themes of place, identity, and human connection in her work. Her debut novel, "All That Life Can Afford," marks her expansion into long-form fiction after establishing herself as a skilled short story writer.

Everett brings a rich academic and professional background to her writing. She studied English and music at Smith College, spent a year abroad at University College London, and later earned an M.A. in literature from Queen Mary University of London. Her eight-year tenure as managing editor of "The Common," Amherst College’s literary magazine, has honed her editorial expertise, where she edits fiction, oversees production, and hosts the magazine’s podcast. Everett’s upbringing on a small family dairy farm and her years living in the UK inform the vivid settings and nuanced characters in her stories.
