Emily Giffin

Emily Fisk Giffin is an American author, born on March 20, 1972, in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. She developed an early interest in writing, serving as editor-in-chief of her high school newspaper and a member of the creative writing club. Giffin pursued her undergraduate degree in English and History at Wake Forest University, where she also served as the manager of the basketball team. After graduation, she attended the University of Virginia School of Law, eventually working in the litigation department of Winston & Strawn in Manhattan.

Despite her successful career in law, Giffin never abandoned her dream of becoming a writer. In 2001, she decided to focus on her writing full-time and moved to London. Her first novel, a young adult book titled "Lily Holding True," received eight rejections from publishers before she began writing a new novel, originally titled "Rolling the Dice," which was later changed to "Something Borrowed." This novel became a bestseller upon its release in 2002. Giffin's success continued with the publication of her subsequent novels, "Something Blue," "Baby Proof," "Love the One You're With," "Heart of the Matter," "Where We Belong," "The One & Only," "First Comes Love," "All We Ever Wanted," "The Lies That Bind," and "Meant to Be." She has since become a #1 New York Times bestselling author and divides her time between Atlanta and London with her family.

Giffin is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the University of Virginia School of Law. After practicing litigation at a Manhattan firm for several years, she moved to London to write full-time. She has authored seven New York Times bestselling novels, including "Something Borrowed," "Something Blue," "Baby Proof," "Love The One You're With," "Heart of the Matter," "Where We Belong," and "The One & Only." She currently resides in Atlanta with her husband and three children.

Giffin's novels are primarily in the chick lit genre, and she has gained a large following for her relatable and engaging characters. Her books, including the Adventures of Darcy series, have been adapted for film and optioned for television.
