Emma Viskic is a highly acclaimed author, best known for her Caleb Zelic series of books. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the 2016 Ned Kelly Award for Best First Fiction for Resurrection Bay, as well as an unprecedented three Davitt Awards. The book was also named iBooks Australia's Crime Novel of the Year.
Viskic is an Australian author who has gained international recognition for her writing. Her novels, which include Resurrection Bay, And Fire Came Down, and Darkness for Light, have won multiple prizes, including several Davitt Awards, a Ned Kelly Award, and a Barry Award nomination. Resurrection Bay was also shortlisted for the UK's prestigious Gold Dagger and New Blood Dagger Awards, and was voted one of the decade's best crime novels by Crime Time UK.
In addition to her writing, Viskic is committed to accurately representing the experiences of the D/deaf and hard-of-hearing communities in her work. She consulted extensively with members of these communities while creating the character of Caleb, who is profoundly deaf. Viskic's attempts to learn lipreading were unsuccessful, but she continues to enjoy learning Auslan, or Australian sign language. She is currently working on the fourth book in the Caleb Zelic series, Those Who Perish.
