Emmanuel Chinedum Acho is a Nigerian-American author, former National Football League (NFL) linebacker, and current analyst for Fox Sports 1. He was born in Dallas, Texas, on November 10, 1990, to Igbo immigrant parents Christie and Dr. Sonny Acho, who are actively involved in African missionary work. Acho has three siblings, one of whom is Sam Acho, also an NFL football player. The Acho family has been heavily engaged in medical missionary work in Nigeria, with Acho's parents sitting on the board of directors of the Living Hope Christian Ministries and its Operation Hope.
Acho played college football at the University of Texas before being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. During his NFL career, he played for the Cleveland Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles, while simultaneously earning a master's degree in sports psychology at the University of Texas during the off-seasons. In 2016, Acho left the NFL for ESPN, where he quickly established himself as a young and insightful national football analyst. His work with ESPN earned him a spot on the 2018 Forbes Under 30 Selection list. Currently, Acho is a football analyst for Fox Sports and the creator of the online video series "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man." The series aims to facilitate open and honest discussions about race and discrimination in America.
