M.T. McGuire is an author who finds the real world enjoyable but prefers to spend most of her time in the imaginary worlds she creates through her writing. She grew up in Sussex, in a location that was considered as the first choice for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. This could explain why she has found herself writing speculative fiction. McGuire's childhood home may have had something in the water, apart from chalk, that inspired her to write in this genre.\n \n After trying her hand at stand-up comedy, McGuire decided to focus on her writing. She now lives in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk with her husband, who is referred to as McOther, her son, known as McMini, a cat, and a collection of silly cars. Despite her efforts, none of her cars can fly or are equipped with any ordnance. However, she and her team of evil scientists are working on making this a reality.\n \n McGuire is yet to become an NY Times bestselling author, but she has won several Wishing Shelf Awards for her work. These include a bronze and a silver award. She continues to hold on to the hope that she will one day find a gateway to Narnia in the back of a wardrobe, as she checks all unfamiliar wardrobes for one. McGuire's writing is inspired by her desire to find a magical world, and her blog can be found at mtmcguire.co.uk. She is also active on twitter under the handle MTMcGuireauthor.
