Hunter's writing career took off in the year 2000 with the publication of her first novel in the Medieval Historical series. She quickly gained recognition when she won the Waldenbooks Best Selling award as the Best Debut Author of the year in 2000. Hunter's success continued with three starred reviews from Publisher's Weekly for her novels. These accolades, along with her seven RITA nominations and two wins, have solidified her position as a prominent author in her genre.
In addition to her career as a novelist, Hunter is an accomplished art historian and teacher. She holds a Ph.D. in art history and spends time teaching at a university in the East Coast.
