Maggie Foster is the author of the award-winning Loch Lonach Scottish Mystery series. She stumbled upon writing as a hobby during a break in her professional career and discovered a local writer's group to join. This turned out to be a great way for her to make new friends and explore her creative side. Although her mother, a published author, had warned her against pursuing writing as a career, Foster found it to be a fun and rewarding experience.
Foster is a seventh-generation Texan with strong Scottish roots. Her heritage and love for her ancestors' culture are reflected in the Loch Lonach Scottish Mystery series, which is set in north Texas and features the descendants of Scots who settled in the area in the mid-1800s. The idea for the series came to Foster during a visit to the Lonach Games in Scotland, where she was inspired by the March of the Lonach Men. She wanted to share her connection to Scotland with others who might find it entertaining, and the Loch Lonach series was born.
In addition to being a writer, Foster has spent her lifetime working in healthcare as a nurse, lawyer, educator, and redhead. She has a deep interest in history, genealogy, music, dancing, travel, dark chocolate, good whisky, and men in kilts, among other things. Foster is a Royal Scottish Country Dance Society instructor and has attended numerous Highland Games and Scottish Country Dance workshops and balls. She is also proud to have earned a high school athletic letter in Highland Dancing in Texas, and to have played the bagpipes, though less successfully.
