Marc Levy

Marc Levy is a bestselling contemporary and literary fiction author, hailing from France. He was born in Boulogne-Billancourt, where he spent much of his early childhood and teenage years. When he turned eighteen, Levy began working for the Red Cross, a commitment that would last for more than half a dozen years. Concurrently, he pursued his studies at the Paris Dauphine University, focusing on computers and management.

In 1983, Levy established a computer graphics company that operated in the United States and France. His company was known for importing computer peripherals, and he made a notable purchase of the third PC sold by IBM in Paris. Despite his success in the graphics industry, Levy's naivety led to the loss of control over the company by 1989, forcing him to resign and start anew.

After his resignation, Levy co-founded an interior design and planning company with two friends, which quickly became one of France's leading architecture firms. It was not until he was thirty-seven that Levy wrote a story for his son, which would later become his first published novel, "If Only It Were True." His sister, a screenwriter and film director, encouraged him to send the manuscript to a French publisher, who immediately agreed to publish it. The novel was later adapted into the movie "Just like Heaven," starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo, and became a #1 box office hit in America in 2005.

Since then, Levy has written full-time and has published over twenty novels, which have been translated into 50 languages and have sold over 50 million copies worldwide. His latest novel, "The Symphony of Monsters," was published in France on October 17, 2023. In addition to his writing, Levy has directed a short movie, written short stories and song lyrics for various artists, including Johnny Hallyday. According to a nationwide poll commissioned by Le Figaro newspaper, Marc Levy and Victor Hugo are the top two favorite authors among the French. Levy currently resides in New York City.
