Marc-Uwe Kling is a German songwriter, comedian, satirist, and author of literary fiction, hailing from Berlin. He began his career as a poet and musician, performing with the punk band "Die Gesellschaft." Since 2003, Kling has been a regular performer on various stages in Berlin and has made a name for himself as a poetry slam artist and cabaret performer. He is the founder of "Leseduen," a public literary event, which he has toured around Berlin since 2005. However, Kling is best known for his radio broadcast "Neues vom Kanguru" on a radio station in Potsdam.
Kling's radio broadcast and literary works often explore similar themes, particularly in his debut novel "The Kangaroo Chronicles." He has written several popular novels that draw from his own life experiences and his relationship with a roommate he refers to as a "communist kangaroo." Kling studied Philosophy and Dramatics at Freie Universität Berlin and has won numerous awards for his standup and poetry performances. In addition to his success in literature and comedy, Kling has also won the German Audiobook Award and the German Cabaret Award. His Kangaroo Trilogies have become bestsellers in Germany, and his 2020 novel "Quality Land" won the German Science Fiction Award in 2018.
