Marcia Muller

Marcia Muller is a distinguished American author, renowned for her mystery and thriller novels. She was born and raised in the Detroit area, growing up in a home filled with books. Muller's passion for literature was evident from a young age, as she self-published her first novel at the age of twelve. This initial work, which told the story of her dog, received generally positive reviews, even with its primitive illustrations.

Upon moving to California in the early 1970s, Muller found herself unemployed and decided to explore mystery novel writing. This endeavor proved to be successful, as she has since written over 35 novels, three of which were co-authored with her husband, fellow author Bill Pronzini. In addition to her novels, Muller has also produced seven short-story collections, numerous nonfiction articles, and has edited a dozen anthologies and a nonfiction book on the mystery genre, showcasing her versatility and dedication to the genre.

Muller's achievements in the mystery genre are noteworthy. In 1993, she received the Shamus Award, "The Eye," which is a lifetime achievement award. In 2005, she was named a Grand Master by the Mystery Writers of America, the organization's highest award. Her husband, Bill Pronzini, received the same accolade in 2008, making them the only living couple to share the prestigious award. They reside in Sonoma County, California, continuing to contribute to the literary world with their shared love for books and writing.
