Marcus Samuelsson

Marcus Samuelsson is an acclaimed Ethiopian American chef, known for his culinary expertise and his commitment to philanthropy. Samuelsson is the chef behind several successful restaurants around the world, including Red Rooster Harlem, MARCUS Montreal, and Marcus B&P in Newark, NJ. He has also made a name for himself on television, winning shows such as Top Chef Masters and Chopped All Stars, and serving as a mentor on The Taste. Samuelsson is also the executive chef-in-residence of Buzzfeed Tasty’s talent program and has his own TV series titled No Passport Required with VOX/Eater.

Samuelsson has received numerous accolades for his cooking, including being the youngest person to ever receive a three-star review from The New York Times. He has also won multiple James Beard Foundation Awards, including Best Chef: New York City. In addition to his culinary achievements, Samuelsson has been tasked with planning and executing high-profile events, such as the Obama Administration’s first State dinner. Samuelsson is also a committed philanthropist, co-chairing Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) and co-producing the annual Harlem EatUp! festival. He is the recipient of the 2019 Vilcek Foundation Prize in Culinary Arts, which recognizes immigrants who have made significant contributions to American society.

Samuelsson is the author of several cookbooks, including The New York Times bestselling memoir Yes, Chef, and his latest book-- The Red Rooster Cookbook: The Story of Food and Hustle in Harlem. He has also expanded his culinary empire to include restaurants in East London and Oslo, Norway. Samuelsson’s newest restaurant, MARCUS, is now open at the Four Seasons Montreal. He is also the founder of the Marcus Samuelsson Group (MSG), which works to maintain Samuelsson’s culinary and cultural pillars, creating outstanding experiences that celebrate food, music, culture, and art in all its endeavors from high-end restaurants and fast-casual cafes to media and experiential events.
