Margaret Tanner

Margaret Tanner is a multi-published and award-winning author who has a passion for writing Western romance, Historical Romance, and Contemporary Romance fiction with some sizzle. She is known for her drama-filled sweet Western Historical Romance novels, which feature Christian elements and lots of adventure. Tanner, who hails from Australia, has had many jobs throughout her working career, including Army Reservist, Government Worker, Postwoman, Army Major’s Secretary, Medical Audio-typist, Electoral Office Worker, Doctor’s Receptionist, and Primary School Principal’s Secretary. She has always loved Westerns and was inspired by Western TV shows, movies, and authors like Zane Grey at a young age.

Tanner’s novels are often inspired by true events, and she conducts extensive research to ensure historical accuracy. She has even spent time in an old jail cell to experience the chilling cold and fear that her characters might have felt. Tanner has received numerous awards for her writing, including the 2007 Author of the Year at AussieAuthors.com, the 2010 Reader's Favorite Historical Romance Award, and the Best Historical Romance of 2015 at Authors On The Air Global Radio Network Book Reviewers. She has also had several of her novels included in anthologies, such as Rawhide ‘N Roses, which was a 2015 Rone Finalist.

In addition to her love of writing, Tanner is married and has three grown-up sons and two gorgeous little granddaughters. She has recently retired from work and hopes to concentrate on her writing. Tanner’s favorite historical period is the 1st World War, and she has conducted extensive research on this era, including a poignant pilgrimage to the battlefields of Gallipoli, France, and Belgium. She has written numerous historical novels set in frontier Australia, as well as Western Romance novels. Her novella, Edwina of Connecticut, is one of the 50 novels in the American Mail Order Bride series, and her short stories have been published in various publications over the years.
