Marilyn Sadler is a renowned author, best known for her deadpan sense of humor and her ability to make her readers laugh. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 17, 1950, and pursued a degree in fine arts, assuming she would become an illustrator. However, when she was presented with an opportunity to write early in her career, she discovered her true love for writing.
Sadler's first children's book featured a fastidious little English boy named Alistair Grittle, which she created for the English publisher, Hamish Hamilton, as well as for Simon & Schuster in the United States. After creating a boy with such perfect behavior, she turned her attention to a not so perfectly behaved little boy, P.J. Funnybunny, who has existed in a series of books for Random House, including highly prestigious spots in the Dr. Seuss Cat In the Hat series. Sadler's television credits include two PBS Reading Rainbow programs featuring Alistair, an Alistair program for the BBC, three ABC Weekend Specials featuring P.J. Funnybunny, and a show based on her children's book, "Elizabeth and Larry", for Showtime’s Shelley Duvall’s Bedtime Stories.
She wrote three Original Movies based on her book, "Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century". Each of Disney’s Zenon movies had exceptionally high ratings, with "Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century" and "Zenon the Zequel" among the highest rated shows in the history of The Disney Channel. Sadler also created the animated series, "Handy Manny", which premiered on Playhouse Disney in 2006 and received critical acclaim and a loyal audience. In 2009, Sadler was nominated for an Emmy Award as Executive Producer of Handy Manny.
More recently, Sadler and her collaborator, Eric Comstock, launched the Charlie Piechart mystery-math series with the release of their first book, "Charlie Piechart and the Case of the Missing Pizza Slice", in September 2015. Sadler has published numerous children's books, including "Tony Baroni Loves Macaroni", "Alice from Dallas", "Ten Eggs in a Nest", "Pass It On", "The Parakeet Girl", "It's Not Easy Being a Bunny", "The Very Bad Bunny", "Honey Bunny Funnybunny", "Money Money Honey Bunny", "Honey Bunny’s Honey Bear", "PJ The Spoiled Bunny", "PJ Funnybunny Camps Out", "PJ Funnybunny's Bag of Tricks", "Bedtime for Bunnies", "PJ Funnybunny and His Very Cool Birthday Party", "Knock Knock, It's PJ Funnybunny", "Bobo Crazy", "Stuck on Earth", "Spaceball Star", "Trouble With Fun", "Alistair's Elephant", "Alistair in Outer Space", "Alistair's Time Machine", "Alistair Under Water", "Alistair and the Alien Invasion", "Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century", "Elizabeth and Larry", "Elizabeth, Larry and Ed", "PJ Funnybunny in The Perfect Hiding Place", "Blue Barry Bear Counts From 1 to 20", "PJ Funnybunny in The Great Tricycle Race", "Chuck Wood and the Woodchucks in The Big Game", and "The Copykitty".
