Mark Cheverton is an American author, renowned for his bestselling series and novels for young readers based on the game of Minecraft. Cheverton grew up in Southern California, where he completed high school and college. After his academic pursuits, he went on to teach high school physics and math for many years. While teaching, he furthered his education by earning a Master's degree in Physics and conducting research on planetary atmospherics.
After moving to the east coast, Cheverton began working as a researcher for a Fortune 100 company in the fields of machine vision and additive manufacturing. His foray into writing began with the self-publication of his first Minecraft-inspired novel, "Invasion of the Overworld," in 2013. The novel was inspired by his son and served as a means to help him understand the concept of cyberbullying. To Cheverton's surprise, the book quickly gained popularity, reaching #29 on Amazon's Top 100, and eventually catching the attention of publishers.
Cheverton's success in writing led to the publication of many more novels, with over 2 million copies sold worldwide and translations in 27 languages. Some of his most popular series include the Mystery of Herobrine series and Gameknight999 series. Despite his background in physics and research, Cheverton has become a prominent figure in children's literature, with many of his books appearing on the New York Times, USA Today, and Publisher's Weekly bestsellers lists.
